Генеалогия

Иоанн II был старшим сыном короля Кипра Януса (1398–1432) и Шарлотты де Бурбон (1388–1422), его второй жены. Иоанн II был дважды женат, и две его жены принадлежали к династии императоров Византии Палеологов. От своей второй жены, Элени Палеолог, у него была дочь, которая впоследствии стала королевой Кипра Шарлоттой (1458-1460). От своей греческой любовницы, Марии или Мариетты де Патрас, у Иоанна родился незаконнорожденный сын, который позже стал королем Кипра Яковом II (1460–1473). Яков II, также известный под именем Яков «Бастард», был женат на последней королеве Кипра Катерине Корнаро (1454–1510).

Наконец, через несколько лет, в 1440 году, Иоанн II женился на Медее де Монферрат. Их свадьба состоялась 3 июля в соборе Святой Софии в Никосии. Королева Кипра выросла во Франции и была потомком династии Палеологов. Она была дочерью Иоанна Палеолога, маркиза Монферратского. Однако спустя два с небольшим месяца после свадьбы Медея умерла.

Смерть короля

Следующей женой короля Иоанна была Элени Палеолог, дочь архиерея Мории Теодора Палеолога и племянница последнего императора Константинополя Константина Палеолога. Элени приехала на Кипр из Мистры и вышла замуж за Иоанна в соборе Святой Софии в Никосии в феврале 1442 года. Она привезла с собой на Кипр многочисленную греческую свиту. Итоги правления

Во время правления короля Иоанна Кипр в 1433 году подвергся нашествию саранчи, вызвавшей множество бедствий, и пострадал от эпидемии чумы, продолжавшейся 17 месяцев в 1438-39 годах.

Когда Иоанн II был коронован не только королем Кипра в Никосии, но и одновременно Королем Иерусалима и Киликийской Армении. Эти два титула переходили к королям Кипра по наследству. Помимо стихийных бедствий, Иоанн столкнулся с различными проблемами, которые были связаны с деятельностью и подрывной политикой генуэзцев на Кипре, а также с постоянно усиливающейся агрессией мусульман, особенно турок из Малой Азии. Внутренние проблемы возникали в основном из-за соперничества греков с католической церковью, самим Папой и католиками королевства.

Писатели того времени описывают Иоанна как очень высокого и красивого мужчину, но с толстыми ногами. По описаниям, он был очень умным человеком и отличным наездником. Тем не менее не отличался, похоже, сильным характером, а как король, не был одарен особыми лидерскими качествами.

    1            Application of terms

    4            Your obligations

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
