Хирокития: 6 главных мифов о загадочном месте

На Кипре находится бесчисленное множество исторических памятников, обросших домыслами и мифами. Среди них — Хирокития, очень ценный для науки доисторический город. Вокруг поселения сформировалось столько баек, что порой невозможно понять, что же тут происходило на самом деле. Многие сайты только перепечатывают друг за другом одно и то же, не пытаясь хотя бы немного покопать вглубь.

«Вестник Кипра» решил разобраться в истории первых цивилизаций на острове на примере самых распространенных заблуждений.

Эволюция через революцию

Как известно, цивилизация не стоит на месте. Огромные города, самолёты и Интернет появились в результате длительной эволюции человеческого общества. А ведь в начале своей истории жизнь людей была совершенно иной.

Современному виду человека всего 360 тысяч лет. Сначала наши предки жили в Африке и только 60 тысяч лет назад двинулись на Ближний Восток, на какие-то 110 километров от Кипра.

Люди охотились, рыбачили, занимались собирательством и жили во временных жилищах. Их техника медленно, но верно развивалась, они учились делать лук и рыболовные сети, чтобы упростить себе жизнь. В остальном сотни тысяч лет их быт почти не менялся.

До тех пор, пока на Ближнем Востоке не произошла неолитическая революция, или революция нового каменного века. В 10 тысячелетии до н. э. жители соседнего от Кипра региона совершили невероятный технологический рывок — начали приучаться к земледелию и одомашнивать животных. Вскоре у них появились настоящие города, и они перестали кочевать от стоянки к стоянке.

К началу 7 тысячелетия до н. э. выходцы из Ближнего Востока добрались и до Кипра, чтобы построить первые на острове города.

МИФ №1
Хирокития — самое древнее поселение Кипра

Пожалуй, это самый популярный миф — но, вынужден, разочаровать — это неправда.
Заселение Кипра первыми неолитическими цивилизациями началось не с Хирокитии, а с небольших доисторических городков вроде Силлурокабоса, а впервые человек оказался на острове значительно раньше.

Более того, Хирокития — относительно позднее неолитическое поселение в регионе. И только благодаря большим размерам города и тому, как хорошо он сохранился, Хирокития была включена в список Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО.

МИФ №2
Раньше Хирокития находилась на побережье

Поселение находилось на холме в шести километров от берега. На первый взгляд место кажется не очень удачным — зачем селиться так далеко от моря за холмами?

Некоторые экскурсоводы объясняют это тем, что раньше побережье было иным, и город находился прямо около воды. На самом деле для жителей Раннего Неолита море не играло значимой роли. Развитого мореплавания ещё не было, как и крепких торговых связей. К тому же, море не создавало естественного заграждения, которое так нужно было первым цивилизациям, чтобы чувствовать себя в безопасности.

А вот возвышенность служила отличной преградой от внешнего нападения. Вторым уровнем защиты была река, которая в те времена была глубоководной и даже подтапливала поселение. Наконец, для полного спокойствия местные жители воздвигли стены, в отдельных местах их высота достигала трёх метров.

МИФ №3
Хирокитийцы — коренные киприоты, так как только они строили круглые дома

Внутри городских стен находились жилые и хозяйственные постройки. Особо не развернешься — их площадь была всего от 2 до 10 квадратных метров. Для сравнения: площадь кухни квартиры-хрущёвки в среднем составляет 6 квадратных метров.

Крохотные дома в форме круга с плоскими крышами строились из камня и глины. Комнаты отделялись друг от друга невысокими перегородками, где-то имелись чердачки. Со временем пол и стены стали обмазывать известняком — для красоты и уюта.

Круглые дома действительно являются визитной карточкой неолитического Кипра, однако назвать их уникальными нельзя. На Ближнем Востоке чаще строили прямоугольные здания, однако в некоторых регионах, как например, на севере Сирии, дома были точь в точь как в Хирокитии.

Вообще, вопроса, как появились первые цивилизации на Кипре, для науки уже давно не существует. Археология даёт один чёткий ответ — хирокитийцы пришли из Ближнего Востока.

МИФ№4
Цивилизация исчезла на полтысячелетия из-за засухи

Хирокитию заселяли дважды. Первые колонисты пришли в конце 7 тысячелетия до н. э. и прожили здесь 500 лет. Они ещё не умели изготавливать глиняную посуду, поэтому их цивилизация называется докерамическим неолитом. Затем поселение снова забросили до прихода других культур, которые уже прекрасно владели керамическим делом.

Хирокития не единственный неолитический памятник, который заселяли дважды. Почему цивилизация исчезла на полтысячелетия? Некоторые говорят, что виной упадка стала сильная засуха 5600 годов до н. э. Не исключено, что произошла некая культурная деградация, и люди вернулись к охоте на диких животных, пока не научились керамике.

Мы не можем подтвердить эти версии, так как учёные еще не дали общепризнанный ответ на этот вопрос.

МИФ №5
Население древнего поселения не оставило после себя ценных находок

Конечно, первые поселенцы ориентировались на скотоводство и охоту, главным образом, на лань, которая ценилась за вкусное мясо и крупные кости, из которых можно было изготовить орудия труда. Земледелие было в зачаточном состоянии, особенно в первые столетия.

Но это совсем не значит, что хирокитийцы не создали ничего ценного. На очень высоком уровне в древнем городе было каменное и костяное дело: население питалось из посуды, выдолбленной из камня. Найдены качественные изделия из дерева, кремня и полезных ископаемых, привозимых из Ближнего Востока.

Вторая цивилизация уже активно пользовалась глиной, поэтому растратила навык искусного мастерства по камню и кости. Чтобы пристально разглядеть все находки, сходите туда, где они выставлены сегодня — в Археологический музей Кипра.

МИФ№6
Жители хоронили родных прямо в домах — больше никто так не делал

Отдельно стоит упомянуть захоронения хирокитийцев. Археологи нашли около 250 останков жителей доисторического города обеих эпох. Умерших хоронили… в собственных домах в условных подвальчиках. Удивительно, что в крошечных домах нашлось место даже на семейные кладбища!

Распространённое заблуждение, что традиция хоронить в домах является особенностью поселения Хирокитии. Подобная практика была широко распространена на всём Ближнем Востоке задолго до этого.

Мы разобрались с шестью основными мифами о древней цивилизации на Кипре, остальные вам нужно будет развенчать самостоятельно уже в Хирокитии.

Добраться туда можно на автомобиле или на междугороднем автобусе Ларнака — Лимассол. Археологический памятник находится на открытом холмистом пространстве, поэтому людям с ограниченными возможностями будет тяжело передвигаться по городищу.

Время работы с 16 апреля по 15 сентября: с 8:30 до 19:30. В остальное время он закрывается в 17:00. Стоит отметить, что билеты (€2,50) перестают продавать за полчаса до открытия.
