10 стыдных вопросов о кипрском диалекте

Чем кипрский диалект отличается от стандартного греческого? Какой из них «чище» и «правильней»? И какой азбукой пользуются киприоты? Мы собрали 10 стыдных вопросов о современном языке острова. Подойдёт и тем, кто прекрасно владеет языком, и тем, кто не знаком с греческим совершенно. 

1. Как правильно: кипрский язык или диалект?

Без разницы. Точного определения, язык или диалект, в науке до сих пор не существует. Поэтому, если кому-то хочется показать островную идентичность, можно сказать «кипрский язык» (κυπριακά). Для того, чтобы показать связь с греческой культурой и Грецией, можно сказать «кипрский диалект греческого языка» (κυπριακή διάλεκτος). В данной статье я буду употреблять термины «кипрский язык» и (стандартный) «греческий язык» исключительно для удобства сравнения.

Насколько сильно отличается кипрский от греческого? Городской кипрский отличается от греческого меньше, чем русский от украинского. Но куда больше, чем оксфордский английский от «дженерал американ», литературного языка США. Деревенский кипрский отличается от греческого значительно больше.

2. Кипрский язык – потомок древнекипрского языка?

Древнекипрский язык действительно существовал в ранней античности, однако с современным кипрским языком он никак не связан. Древние киприоты говорили на особом, аркадо-кипрском диалекте и писали справа налево примерно так: кипрский диалект слово (это возможное написание имени Антон). Древнекипрский язык отличался от традиционного древнеафинского куда больше, чем современная кипрская деревенская речь отличается от современного афинского.

Однако уже в древности древнекипрский вымер и был заменён единым стандартным древнегреческим языком. И только спустя тысячи лет, благодаря обособленности, кипрский язык снова стал отличаться от греческого.

Например, древние киприоты говорили ἄνδα вместо местоимения αὐτή («эта») и κάς вместо союза καί («и»). Сегодня в кипрской деревне скажут τουτή и τζ̌αι соответственно.

3. Кипрский язык более «чистый» и ближе к древнему языку, чем греческий?

Очень распространённая точка зрения даже среди образованных греков. Многие киприоты гордятся тем, что их язык более «чистый». И я с этим коренным образом не согласен. Да, в кипрском есть такие древние слова, которых нет в греческом. Например:

Однако на каждый пример близости к древнему языку можно найти противоположный пример. Наконец, произношение в кипрском языке невероятно изменилось и стало совсем не похожим на древнюю речь.

4. Кипрский язык особенный, благодаря итальянцам и англичанам?

Да, благодаря итальянцам, а также англичанам, французам, арабам, туркам и так далее. Но больше всего – туркам.

5. Правда, что сами киприоты не знают своего языка?

Отчасти это так. На «настоящем» деревенском кипрском языке разговаривает лишь незначительная часть населения острова. Большинство киприотов говорит на некой смеси греческого и кипрского.

Например, «киприот» по-гречески будет Κύπριος. Большинство киприотов скажут Κυπραίος. А вот в деревне и вовсе скажут Τζιπριώτης. А «Кипр» будет не Κύπρος, а Τζύπρος.

Кстати, сами «греки» по-кипрски будут не Έλληνας, а Ελλαδίτης. Это как «русский»/«россиянин». «Грек» по национальности – это Έλληνας. А если «гражданин Греции» – это Ελλαδίτης.

6. Кипрский отличается от греческого только бытовыми словами?

Нет, есть несколько различий в базовой лексике. Самое известное – όι вместо όχι («нет»). К слову, όι часто встречается и в других греческих диалектах, например в критском.

Также киприоты могут сказать τουτός вместо αυτός («этот»/«он»), а ещё δαμέ – вместо εδώ («здесь», «сюда»). И так далее.

7. Кипрский язык не имеет своей письменности?

Кипрский язык имеет свою особую кипрскую письменность, однако ею пользуются максимум филологи Университета Кипра. Кипрскую речь приходится записывать обычным греческим алфавитом. Приходится, потому что звуки в кипрском и греческом существенно отличаются. Куда больше, чем в русском и украинском.

Давайте придумаем несложную фразу:

Έχει παπούτσια και κάλτσες; Βρέχει!
У него/неё есть ботинки и носки? Идёт дождь!

Кипрским письмом это будет так:
Έσ̌ει παπούτζ̌α τζ̌αι κάλτσες; Βρέσ̌ει!

Вообще, в кипрском языке «носки» будут κλάτσες, но для простоты опустим этот факт.

8. Греки и киприоты понимают друг друга?

Киприоты понимают греков прекрасно, так как в школе изучают литературный греческий. А значительная часть массовой культуры и СМИ на острове также выпускается на греческом языке.

А вот греку нужно время, чтобы привыкнуть к кипрскому. Обычно на это требуется пара недель. В первую очередь греку нужно понять особенности произношения.

Кипрский отличается прежде всего произношением согласных звуков. Это нетипично для европейских языков, так как обычно диалекты отличаются гласными. Ведь в Рязани скажут «малако», в Вологде – «молоко», а в Петербурге – «мəлəко». В Лондоне – «фастфуд», а в Нью-Йорке – «фэстфуд». А у киприотов с греками всё наоборот.

Кипрский язык, в отличие от греческого, имеет палато-альвеолярные согласные: звук [ʒ] (примерно как в английском vision), [ ʃ ] (примерно как русское [ш]), [ t͡ʃ ] (примерно как английское nature или твёрдое украинское [ч]). Также в кипрском есть два звука [р] и некоторые другие фонетические особенности.

9. А существуют другие диалекты греческого языка?

Да. Самый известный – понтийский язык. На нем говорят многие русскоязычные греки и киприоты. В Турции, в Египте, на юге Италии и Украины, да и в самой Греции есть диалекты греческого, которые отличаются от литературного афинского куда больше, чем деревенский кипрский.

10. У турок-киприотов также имеется свой язык?

Да, именно поэтому правильно бы кипрский язык называть греко-кипрским. Ведь на Кипре существует турецко-кипрский язык. Насколько он далёк от литературного турецкого, я сказать не могу. Знаю одно: больше всего отдалился от родственников арабо-кипрский язык! Такой на острове тоже встречается, хоть и весьма редко, он практически вымер.

И если турки-киприоты пишут на обычном латинском алфавите, то арабы-киприоты писали греческой азбукой!

    1            Application of terms

    You means you or, if clause 1.1b applies, both you and the other person on whose behalf you are acting.

     

    4            Your obligations

    4.1        You must provide true, current and complete information in your dealings with us and must promptly update that information as required so that the

    information remains true, current and complete.

    4.2        You must:

    a not act in a way, or use or introduce anything (including any virus, worm, Trojan horse, timebomb, keystroke logger, spyware or other similar feature) that in any way compromises, or may compromise, the Website or any Underlying System, or otherwise attempt to damage or interfere with the Website or any Underlying System; and

    b unless with our agreement, access the Website via standard web browsers only and not by any other method. Other methods include scraping, deep-linking, harvesting, data mining, use of a robot or spider, automation, or any similar data gathering, extraction or monitoring method.

    Republic of Cyprus.

    Each party submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in relation to any dispute connected with these Terms or the

    10.3      For us to waive a right under these Terms, the waiver must be in writing.

    10.4      Clauses which, by their nature, are intended to survive termination of these Terms, including clauses 5, 6, 7, 10.1, continue in force.

    10.5      If any part or provision of these Terms is or becomes illegal, unenforceable, or invalid, that part or provision is deemed to be modified to the extent

    required to remedy the illegality, unenforceability or invalidity. If a modification is not possible, the part or provision must be treated for all purposes as

    severed from these Terms. The remainder of these Terms will be binding on you.

    10.6      These Terms set out everything agreed by the parties relating to your use of the Website and supersede and cancel anything discussed, exchanged or

    agreed prior to you agreeing to these Terms. The parties have not relied on any representation, warranty or agreement relating to the Website that is not

    expressly set out in the Terms, and no such representation, warranty or agreement has any effect from the date you agreed to these Terms.
